The Outsider messes with people's lives. He was in direct contact with both Corvo Attano and Daud, who end up on opposite sides of things. I imagine Daud feels betrayed. Also it sounds like it was planned from the beginning to kill him off.
spoiler. Disappointed in the story specifically, the game was great to play. I enjoyed anything to do with the Upper Cyria area especially the bank heist without knocking out the guards. Arkane and specifically Harvey Smith have a talent for world building and lore that is addictive to read up on.

She sets off to find Daud and reassumes her old identity of Billie Lurk after supposedly 15 years without it. She finds Daud and learns that he blames the Outsider for all that they had done in Dunwall and beyond. Their mission to kill the Outsider seems to be a solution. It absolves Daud of his guilt and gives Billie a purpose.
