I recently bought Nioh 2, which was coined as being similar to Dark Souls, the only similarity I've found is the difficulty. Combat is more arcadey and faster, in my opinion, loads of gear to find, craft, upgrade, seems like a lot of different builds to choose, weapons all seem quite different to use and employ different playstyles, from my limited knowledge/playtime.
So no, regardless what type of mod you use, no matter if it's cosmetic, Quality of Life or outright cheating, noone has ever been banned in World, so it's very very unlikely they'll start now. To my knowledge mods won’t get you banned but, depending on the mod, people may not take it well.
