I saw Gravity in IMAX 3D on Wednesday. I am pretty anti 3D in general but it really worked well in this movie. The 3D allowed for a wonderful illusion of depth that added to the feel of being in space. Again I usually hate 3D but this is the one movie that was truly enhanced by it.

The director says that seeing it in 3D is his preferred way to watch it. It definitely seems like a movie to see in IMAX 3D, though the director has also talked about how important the Dolby Atmos track is, so if you can't get to an IMAX, a theater with 3D and Dolby Atmos would be just as good.
I hate 3D but Gravity is one of a few movies that are actually worth it in the format, even though the 3D was done as a post conversion. Also Gravity doesn’t have any IMAX scenes so no expanded aspect ratio. Seeing as your IMAX theater is Digital, it will depend on the brightness difference between the two.
