The Hallicrafters Company manufactured, marketed, and sold radio equipment, and to a lesser extent televisions and phonographs, beginning in 1932. The company was founded by William J. Halligan and based in Chicago, Illinois, United States. In 1966 Halligan sold the company to the Northrop Corporation and Halligan family involvement ended.

Shortly after the FPM-300 ceased production, Hallicrafters ceased business operations, closing its doors on a long and distinguished history. There were rumors, in the late 1980s, of a new Hallicrafters Company; thus far, these have remained only rumors. Bill Halligan remained active in the Amateur Radio community as W9AC.
Mar 9, 2020 · Before installing, rub the new dial cord with an isopropyl alcohol pad, then run the string (still a a bit wet) several times over a piece of violin rosin. This seemed to prep the dial cord well. Sometimes you need a bit more tension on the string to get the tuning spindle to grip properly.

In Feb.1956, Hallicrafters was acquired by the Penn-Texas Corp. through an exchange of 332,000 shares of Penn-Texas common stock for all the 825,000 outstanding shares of Hallicrafters stock.The company was operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Penn until December 1957, when all common stock was sold back to the Halligan family for $3 million in cash.
