  1. You are right that the Bible refers to “heavenly places.” We must keep in mind that time and space are finite concepts; God is not bound by them, nor could God live in one physical place, as we think of it, because the physical universe is his creation and cannot contain him. Heaven is a place, but not a particular space.

    • Is Heaven A Place Or A State of Mind?

Even though the New Heavens and New Earth is the ultimate destination for every Christian, the world is fallen today. Though Christians have many comforting assurances about heaven right now (e.g. Luke 23:43; Phil. 1:21), the Bible doesn’t say where it is. Theologian Wayne Grudem writes, “Heaven is even now a place — though one whose location is no...

The Bible teaches that people will spend eternity on a New Heavens and New Earth after the Second Coming of Christ. Theologians debate whether this means that God will renew the present universe or if he will make an entirely new created order. 3. Dec 7, 2015 · We say in the Creed “He ascended into Heaven.” So, what is heaven? Is it a state of being, a place, or both? I think it is both, by the way, but I would like to hear the “official” Church position. Thank you and God bless you! This is an interesting question. I think the answer really depends on what you mean by “place.”

  4. The Old Testament heroes of faith longed for a literal place—“a better country—a heavenly one … for [God] has prepared a city for them” (Hebrews 11:16, NIV). Jesus told His disciples, “You know the way to the place where I am going” (John 14:4, NIV). That place is Heaven and Christ our Savior is there now, preparing for our arrival.

  5. Jun 8, 2020 · The Scripture says that He went to heaven (1 Peter 3:22). Jesus went to a real place, an eternal home, not into a state of mind or an abstraction. Jesus prayed, “Our Father in heaven” (Matthew 6:9). He did not say “Our Father in a state of mind” or “… in an eternal illusion.” Our Father is in heaven, a real place.

  7. Jul 29, 2020 · The Bible clearly defines Heaven as a created place. God said, “My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens” (Isaiah 48:13, NIV; see also 1 Corinthians 2:9). While Heaven captures our imagination, it’s more important that the God of Heaven captures our souls; for God is greater than Heaven.
