      • Illinois is still losing population, according to the latest estimates out today from the U.S. Census Bureau, but there are signs of improvement. Illinois had the fourth-worst decline, at 0.26%, among states that lost population in 2023. That’s a step up from last year’s results, when Illinois had the second-largest percentage decline, at 0.83%.
