May 24, 2022 · Promisingly enough, a concept known as immersion cooling offers the most efficient way to reduce water waste and other environmental tolls – while enhancing performance and reducing costs! In the US alone, data centers use well over a billion liters of water per day .
Apr 19, 2023 · It is more than 20 times more efficient in transferring heat than air – and if you take a specific volume of water flow over a hot component (known as the volumetric flow rate), water has a heat carrying capacity nearly 3,500 times that of air.
- Two Cooling Systems Instead of One. While this may be true of some other liquid cooling variants (like 2-phase or direct-to-chip/cold-plate cooling), with Submer Immersion Cooling’s single-phase solution, Data Center operators can leverage their existing water loops to deliver the secondary cooling, provided they can support steady temperatures.
- No Standards. While this myth had some truth to it in the not so distant past, the Industry has started to come together in the form of the Open Compute Project, a project in which Submer takes an active role, in particular in the Advanced Cooling Subgroup.
- Electrocution. Now, this myth can be immediately dispelled for immersion cooling. While direct-to-chip/cold-plate cooling most likely use water, liquid immersion cooling solutions always use some formula of dielectric liquid, which doesn’t conduct electricity and presents no risk of electrocution.
- Corrosion. Submer’s synthetic dielectric coolant prevents oxidation, not only as it forms a barrier to moisture present in the air and referring to rust, but also because specific additives in our specially crafted liquid help prevent the destabilization or loss of electrons.
Dec 1, 2022 · Immersion cooling is economical due to the fact that there is no need for fans (for certain types of immersion cooling) and the heat is well regulated. Moreover, traditional cooling techniques require a lot of space and contribute to the total cost of ownership.
Jan 13, 2022 · This article focuses on water-side economization in particular using two different methods: stand-alone dry coolers and air-cooled chillers with integrated free cooling coils. Determining the most effective free cooling strategies requires taking a myriad of factors into consideration.
May 3, 2023 · Immersion Cooling Explained in 10 Minutes. Join Gloria Fluxà, Head of Marketing at Submer, and Daniel Pope, Submer’s Co-founder and CEO, in this 10-minute video, where they talk about: Water and energy consumption challenges. Density and latency issues.
