  3. To me, from the UK, philosopher has no connection to wizardry either. In my eyes all of the magical people in Harry Potter are sorcerers, so naming it Sorcerer’s Stone doesn’t specify anything, it could be anyone’s. Nicholas Flamel’s profession was as a philosopher, which is why it was specifically his stone.
