The Manitoba Club is an excellent example of the Neo-Classical or Classical Revival style, which as the name suggests, was a redefinition and revisiting of classical architecture form and ornamentation. Popular from 1900 into the 1930s in North America, its designs included columns, capitals, pediments and Greek or Roman embellishments.
The Administration Building is a six-storey office building flanked by two low wings enclosing a thoughtfully scaled courtyard which acts as a civic square. The publicly accessible rooftop gardens originally planned for the wings, as well as the bronze brise-soleils of the Council Building, are particularly reminiscent of the work of the celebrated modern architect Le Corbusier.
