No, not really, in my opinion. For non top tier med schools, places like UCSD/UW/UT etc. actually really hurt you. Those med schools don't care as much, and it's pretty hard to be above average at those universities. (for any med school, you have to be in the top 45% at UW, or the top 40% at SD).
