   For me Mulholland Drive doesn't rock my world because it feels a little flat and soapy, rather than it being fragmentary. I feel there's an impenetrable gauze between the screen and me; I can sense others can traverse this thin barrier and receive the full range of emotions coming out of it, so I have to admit it works on some level.

   the issue comes down to what we mean by understanding. would you really say you understand mulholland drive definitively? imo thats almost as peculiar as people who don't get it at all. we can understand on an emotional level what is happening, but when it comes to chronology, point of view, continuity etc. there are still uncertainties.

   Oct 12, 2001 · Mulholland Drive is a simple suspense story which is shown in different way. Director used a few cheap thrill tricks to make the story confusing and the tricks worked. I am still trying to figure the climax and will probably have to see it again to catch things I missed and which may help me understand it better.
