Dec 25, 2022 · In Piranha Bytes games they are usually open world games that gate specific areas by either requiring a plot device or advancement in the story. The combat is just Risen formula (straight action, no targetting), which each new title just having smoother animations.
It's more accessible but you lose some of the challenge I find you had in the first two. Gothic 3 was buggy back at release but community patches have fixed all the issues and it's now a very playable, wonderful game. I haven't played the Risen series, only shortly jumping into Risen 2. It seems like a mix between Gothic 3 and 2.
If you dig those as well, well, play Gothic (old, crazy combat scheme, but cool) and Risen 2 (just use muskets, avoid all other combat types, trust me). Straight up skip Gothic 3. Gothic 1 is the best. Though Risen and Elex both worth trying, IMO.
