They're working on Elex 2, they even got some EU/German funding for it.There's no official confirmation as Piranha Bytes usually start the marketing campaign a year before release, and the pandemic effed everything up, so they had to change the release date.

As already said, Piranha Bytes may hesitate changing the engine because of their custom toolkit (there's a lot of stuff to handle, like dialog options, keeping track of quests etc.), which would mean the developers would have to "reinvent the wheel" several times, making things that already work in their engine, work in a third party engine.
