In this post, I’ll show you seven unconventional resources to learn Spanish by reading (which will, in turn, boost many other language skills).

Reading practice can significantly boost your proficiency and fluency when learning Spanish. Here are some comprehensive, practical tips to help you make the most out of your Spanish reading practice:

- Don’t look up every word in the dictionary. I’ll share my easiest, simplest, oldest tip when it comes to reading at the end of the lesson. Make sure to stick around for it.
- Vocabulary and comprehension at the same time: listen and read. MAURA. Ven, vamos a poner una peli en español con subtítulos en español. (Come, let’s “put” a movie in Spanish with Spanish subtitles.)
- Find a native Spanish speaking buddy to exercise. When all else fails or if you have the privilege of having native Spanish speakers around, use them!
Feb 24, 2022 · You’ll dramatically improve your language-learning skill, which is different from the Spanish language skill. The difference is that once you improve the first mentioned skill, you’ll be able to easily learn any language you want. Reading allows you to learn at your own pace. There is no teacher or instructor to assign tasks or deadlines.
- Start with the little books… Don’t assume that you can just pick up the Quijote and start flipping through the 1200 pages effortlessly. We have to be realistic here.
- Read books you have already read in English. Have a favorite book that you just can’t put down, no matter how many times you read it? Try reading it in Spanish to 1) switch things up a little and 2) make for an easier read.
- Read Books with Translations. With some books you’ll find the translation is written right there, on the opposite page, making your reading experience easier.
- Listen to the book while you read it. Books with audio will help you in so many ways! You will hear the pronunciation, accent, and flow of what the passage is supposed to sound like.
