  1. Dec 28, 2022 · The Painted Ladies are located at 710–720 Steiner Street. Best Photo Locations in San Francisco Tip: You may have to get creative when photographing the painted ladies due to both the crowds and the San Francisco fog potentially obscuring the city backdrop. We had both to contend with when we visited.

    • Baker’s Beach. I’ll start off with my favourite location in San Francisco for shooting the bridge, Baker’s Beach. You’ll have to park above the beach and walk down to it, but the view as the sun set across the water is just stunning.
    • Battery Spencer and Vista Point. On the opposite side of the bay there are two easily accessible locations to shoot the bridge from – Battery Spencer and Vista Point.
    • Bonita Point Lighthouse and Marin Headlands. Once you’ve visited Battery Spencer and realised the whole world is covered in a thick, impenetrable fog, don’t panic.
    • Land’s End. Side note – Land’s End is my favourite place in San Francisco for a spot of walking. You can walk from the car park here all along the headland, with excellent views of the Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate bridge.
    • Hawk Hill – Two Icons In One Shoot. It took me a while to find where the Transamerica Pyramid aligns with the Golden Gate Bridge, but I finally did! It is kind of tricky to get here, but I’m going to make it as simple as possible.
    • Treasure Island – San Francisco’s Skyline. Treasure Island has one of the best views of San Francisco’s beautiful skyline. Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak is up there too) Just across the Bay Bridge, Treasure Island is the easiest to get to.
    • Sutro Baths – San Francisco’s Heart. Sutro Baths have to be one of my favorite spots in San Francisco. Being by the water, enjoying the breezy, finding San Francisco’s Heart is just a calming experience and makes for a great place for landscape photography.
    • Kirby Cove – Best Sunrise Photography San Francisco. Kirby Cove is a gem. Off of a hiking trail in Hawk Hill, Kirby Cove is a secluded beach equipped with a man-made swing so you can enjoy the waves crashing by under the Golden Gate Bridge.
  2. Sep 21, 2024 · Lands End Labyrinth. I’m sure you’ve seen this SF photo spot all over instagram — it’s one of the best photography spots in San Francisco. Follow the winding pathway of the Lands End Trail and go down the stairs towards Mile Rock Beach, and you’ll find the Land Ends Labyrinth hiding away on a cosy cliff corner.

    • Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge defines our city and it’s every visitor’s favorite place to take pictures in SF. You can shoot the bridge every which way, so if you are interested in making a project of it, I recommend that you check out my guide to shooting and viewing the Golden Gate Bridge.
    • Sutro Baths. The Sutro Baths are what remains of a grand Victorian experiment to build expansive public baths for the masses. It’s a great shooting location for people who like both urbex and great landscape views.
    • Lands End & The Labyrinth. Follow the Sutro Baths northeast around the outer edge of San Francisco until you come to the labyrinth. This cool little puzzle is not only a nod to San Francisco’s counter culture, but the rock from which to shoot it also provides great photography views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands.
    • Torpedo Wharf at Dawn. Getting up at dawn is hard but seeing the sunrise over San Francisco is so worth it. Torpedo Wharf juts out into the bay from Chrissy Field.
