Feb 19, 2024 · Along the way we stopped at the overlook to the Pecos River as an added bonus. The State Park isn't very large, but they have a lot of nice camping spots, a picnic area, smallish covered picnic grounds, but the views of the Seminole Canyon are some of the most impressive, awe inspiring views of the majesty of Texas.

Aug 5, 2023 · Wildlife and nature viewing are also popular at Seminole Canyon State Park and Historic Site. Native wildlife includes deer, armadillos, foxes, bobcats, javelina, and the occasional black bear or mountain lion. Seminole Canyon is also a great place to witness the forces of nature, from its wind and water carved cliffs, caves, and canyons.
- Cuyahoga Valley National Park. My first pick is Ohio’s only national park, wrapped in suburbs between Cleveland and Akron, so it’s easy to dip in and out.
- Hocking Hills State Park. In the same vein, I could ramble on for days about all the things you can see and do in the Hocking Hills Region in Southeastern Ohio.
- Put-In-Bay. Island getaways don’t get much more convenient than the Bass Islands, a few short miles from the south shore of Lake Erie. The hub for tourism here is South Bass Island, which also goes by the name of the village on the north side, Put-In-Bay.
- Yellow Springs. A unique village with a tradition for progressive politics and a large LGBT population, Yellow Springs is edged by some of the most beautiful scenery in southwestern Ohio.
Seminole Canyon State Park is a really nice place to Stop and visit or do a tour of the pictographs. We stayed 2 nights. The Texas Park Rangers were very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. We were not there until too late Sunday for the tour, ( all pictographs tours are guided and are on Wednesday-Sunday, 2 times a day.
