I just got around to watching the Silent Hill movie as a longtime fan of the games and was curious what everyone's consensus is on it. I'm glad the fandom at large seems to give it the credit it deserves because it's NOWHERE near the level of bad that was made out to me at release and by all the reviews.

Martin Scorsese went through something of an experimental period in the early 2010s, releasing two movies back to back that didn’t quite match up with his usual output – 2010’s psychological thriller Shutter Island and 2011’s child-friendly adventure film Hugo. Regardless, Shutter Islandwas a huge success – both financially and critically – and rea...
While it’s not exactly the most critically acclaimed movie on this list, between its fog-filled setting and creepy central cult, The Shrine certainly gives off some serious Silent Hillvibes. One of the most highly praised Stephen King adaptations around, The Mistis infamous for its bleak slant on the source material, containing one of the most shocking endings in all of horror fiction. Though critics initially dismissed David Lynch’s unapologetically trippy Lost Highway due to its bizarre imagery and tough to decipher plot, the movie has since become a cult favorite, with many considering it a work of genius. Perhaps the perfect example of slow-burn horror done right, The Blackcoat’s Daughteris amongst the most underrated horror movies of the last decade. While a lot of movies on this list seem to draw inspiration from the Silent Hill series, Jacob’s Ladder actually inspired elements of Silent Hill, being released a full nine years before the first entry in the iconic video game series. With its grotesque imagery and disturbing take on psychological horror, the movie became one of the most influenti...
Arguably the most bizarre movie of John Carpenter’s entire career, 1994’s In the Mouth of Madnessfollows insurance agent John Trent, who’s tasked with tracking down the enigmatic horror author Sutter Cane after he goes missing – only to become embroiled in a nightmarish, reality-altering mystery. Gloriously trippy and loaded with meta elements, the...

The second movie, not so much. But the first one is great imo. It's dark, it's disturbing, and it manages to respect the source material without copying the lore completely. Plus it features music from the games. Also the wiki article on the film is interesting if anyone wants to have a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hill_(film)
There’s a recent movie out on Netflix called Incantation which is a Taiwanese found footage horror film that definitely has Silent Hill cult vibes. Kind of reminds me of the game Siren as well lol
