Sleepers (1996) was just a great movie in every way. It wasn't the most family friendly but damn, it was riveting. Put together a great story that brings you right in from the beginning and a great cast (Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Bacon, Brad Pitt as some of the big names) and it's a great recipe for entertainment.
The first hour of the movie is an absolute torture to watch given what the kids go through after they're sent to a reformatory over a prank gone wrong. As the boys arrive, they're subjected to physical and sexual abuse under the guise of discipline. Years later, two of the boys, now grown, meet their main tormentor and kill him.

It's a miracle 2 of them graduated college and held a job, the expected outcome would be that they'd become hardened criminals. The references of revenge in 'The Count of Monte Cristo' is seen throughout the movie, I guess that's why they celebrate in the end. It's almost like they got closure. A very very sad movie.
