  1. I think hardware limits are going to be a bigger issue in a game like Minecraft. You're going to force the game to make more random ticking, redstone operations, and mob AI decisions within a span of what, 5 seconds? Other games can do it better than Minecraft can because they aren't as open as Minecraft when it comes to world interaction.

  2. Mar 30, 2020 · The idea I had was basically just to slightly alter the NIGHT Phase sleep mechanic, so that if ANY players go to sleep, it would simply increase the speed by which the NIGHT phase of the Day/Night Cycle rotated towards the Day phase, thus this would decrease the number of Night Phase Spawning Mobs that would spawn, simply by the fact that the Night phase was shorter.

  3. Not redstone, just stuff that can be quickly simulated like farms, furnaces and entity growth. Random Ticks work by sending a "random update" to certain blocks, Minecraft could just calculate how many random ticks would be sent in the time that is skipped and estimate the progress of random elements.

  4. Jun 9, 2018 · Sleep as currently used in minecraft simply allows players to get through night without spawning mobs. It has to be done by everybody in the game so that players do not get out of sync with daytime/nighttime. If sleep during the day was allowed, once again, all players in the world would have to sleep at the same time.

  5. It would be cool if sleeping in beds regenerated your health to full. To balance it hunger can be taken away when waking up. Difficulty can also change the amount taken away. Easy - 2 hunger Normal - 3 hunger Hard - 4 hunger If you were to sleep without enough hunger you would begin to starve upon waking up.

  6. Sleeping does not: fast-forward time; fast-forward any processes such as crops growing or furnaces melting/cooking; Sleeping does: change the time of day to the next morning, if every player sleeps at the same time; set your spawn point so you will respawn next to that bed, after 5 seconds whether or not other players sleep

  8. Jul 7, 2018 · You can already skip (aka time travel) to the next morning by sleeping in a bed at the beginning of night, so if commands were input via creative menus, or an exact date input into a time machine* (see time machine item post) the player(s) would get a chance to go to a previous, current, or future time and date, but at current coordinates.
