- Despite its goofy title and questionable marketing tie-ins, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed deserves to be taken seriously... just not too seriously. It's a fun, challenging, and easily enjoyable racing game that uses a lot of familiar mechanics and ideas but knows well enough to try and do its own thing. And it does that thing pretty well.

May 22, 2019 · Sonic Racing Transformed was (is) one of the best cart racers of all time, perhaps second only to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And Team Sonic Racing gives Transformed a run for its money.

Transformed had a great system of unlocking car upgrades through xp. It was a great way to encourage you to try out characters you normally wouldn't bother playing. It was satisfying to leveling them up. Now you can unlock all the mods for a character without once playing as them.

I loved Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, but I was on the fence for a while about trying TSR because everybody kept saying everywhere how much of a disappointment it was. So I've just been playing SASRT which I think is a fantastic game.
Thankfully the pc version is magnificient, and the xbox one backwards compatibility fixes the framerrate issues of the 360 version :) but yeah, on switch this game would be dope, I honestly think it is better than Mk8.
I never played Transformed because I was perfectly content with Mario Kart 8 at the time. However! Switch's distinct lack of new Nintendo kart racers drove me to pick up Team Sonic Racing...
