Russian here, I've been preaching about Space Rangers for a while now, such a masterpiece of a game. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any games that are even remotely close to this. Perhaps you can try playing King's Bounty series which is a game that was made by the same studio.
Original Space Rangers 2 received a fan-made expansion, Revolution, which added new music and quests, not featured in any other version of the game (including Shuniverse); its developers later formed SNK Games, which was hired to create Space Rangers HD: A War Apart.
