It's been a few years, but Electronic Arts has finally returned with one of the hottest, most gigantic snowboarding titles ever created. Named SSX 3 after the intense freestyle-friendly downhill jams, the gi-normous mountainsides, and the supercross style racing, it stands for almost everything the series has strove to become.
Truly, this year's version -- available for GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox (and GBA in a different form) -- is the most refined and cohesive the franchise has been. In its genre, extreme sports, SSX 3 is arguably one of the absolute best. Full of over-the-top tricking, jaw-dropping visuals, and layer upon layer of presentation polish, it offers more than almost anything in its sector.
The decision to add this to your game collection is a simple one then. However, choosing a platform to play it on may not be. Has the trick system been designed in a way it works equally on all controllers, do the visuals suffer from console-to-console as they did with SSX Tricky, and are there any extra features one version may have over the other?
