Dec 21, 2023 · Star Raiders is a classic must-play. Also, it's not that it has it's own games or that it's backwards compatible. It can run all Atari 8-bit software, just like any other Atari 8-bit can run all Atari 8-bit software. There are no XE or XEGS exclusive titles.
Star Raiders is a space combat simulator video game created by Doug Neubauer and published in 1980 by Atari, Inc. Originally released for the Atari 400/800 computers, Star Raiders was later ported to the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Atari ST. The player assumes the role of a starship fighter pilot, who must protect starbases from invading forces called Zylons.
Game included an overlay with commands, for use with Star Raiders. Currently no way to play two-button 7800 games, but they've announced that a new 2-button 7800 controller is coming, so that will apparently be fixed. The 2600+ does actually work with the Harmony Cart if you just load one game on the card and don't use the menu. edit: Also it does not work with 4:3 LCD monitors, only 16:9 resolutions.
