Monster fighting is real time turn based so you have to think quick on your feet and calculate which skills you use and who you use them for because some of the skills are free-cast so you might want to use them to cycle them earlier on their cooldowns.

You have the option to tap certain abilities, and your character will use those on its next attack, but otherwise it will continue swinging away on its own.
