Tarkov is probably the hardest it's ever been for a new player - particularly if you're trying to translate other FPS experience into Tarkov. The gear you wear in-game affects your mouse sensitivity, the recoil system is extremely unintuitive and was recently made more difficult, and the movement system is quite clunky and unlike most other FPS games.
I'm not a fan of playing by the guides and "minmax" strats or flavour of the month builds and whatnot, but reading through several tutorials for a new players or listening to someone tell you about the game would be a good idea. Also Tarkov genuinely becomes better with every new patch so in that regard it's really never too late to start.

I 2nd the watch beginner videos. I highly recommend this Veritas video. He suggests running against bots on offline mode to learn a weapon or the games combat system. This tip got me to play this game and its been an absolute thrill playing. There is no other game like tarkov. Brutal, yes. But also the most fun ive had playing fps
