   Is Sonic Racing Transformed a good game?

   • This game is fantastic. Sonic Racing Transformed was (is) one of the best cart racers of all time, perhaps second only to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And Team Sonic Racing gives Transformed a run for its money. The team mechanic is brilliant, item swapping and still some dynamic aspects of the tracks.

   • It’s really good on Switch, too (although lack of SnapMap is disappointing), but the definitive experience is PC. Still can’t believe we have a game like that on handheld! @TJWorks Soundtrack is fantastic in Team Sonic Racing, remixes of some of the Sonic series’ best. So is the audio effects.

   • In a sense, most of Team Sonic Racing’s issues boil down to this sort of thing; whether fairly or unfairly, many will judge it on what it isn’t rather than what it is. It obviously isn’t Mario Kart (that goes without saying), and it isn’t a 60fps racer.

   • The thing is, Team Sonic Racing has enough single-player and offline/online multiplayer options to keep people going for a while, so a grind like this wasn’t necessary. Plus parts have tradeoffs, so it’s not like getting shiny new rims for Shadow’s ride is an instant win-more upgrade.
