Credit where credit is due, the empyreans are the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever worn, and were easily the best built out of all the headphones they had on display. Going up their line, The Elites do step it up, and in terms of technical performance, and they were noticeably better than my Elex being about on par with the 2021 lcdx that I heard, and a tad behind the Arya.

The empyrean have no weakness, no trade off. They are the perfect all round headphones, at the price point, beautiful (I have copper black), built to be an heirloom, and can be worn forever. They are however open back (and sound actually quite good to those around the listener, to a point..)
Jul 9, 2021 · I am sure there are plenty of owners of both, the Utopia and the Empyrean. I don't have the luxury to get them both so I am looking for advice for my endgame, openbacks. I listen to edm but soundtracks as well so I am not looking for a certain type headphone but more of a allrounder. I also do gaming and value comfort.
The Meze, without EQ, is about as bad, maybe even worse than an LCD 2F. The problem arises, when you wanna fix the tonality with EQ. The 2F is genuinely good and looking at its price (1200€) and the competition, it has its place. The Empyrean on the other hand falls flat on its face.
