The meze is empyrean is nice and is the most comfortable of any headphone. However the HEKSE is almost as comfortable, like 95% as comfortable. Get a used HEKSE and call it a day.
I can see these being great endgame for audiophiles with big boy money, considering how good the 109 are for under a grand. The price of these does put them out of reach for vast majority of people.
Neither. The Empyrean is super comfy but not particularly competitive at that price for technical performance. FR is also somewhat of an acquired taste. Diana V2 when I heard it was not as detailed as the Phi, and it also had some weirdness in the upper mids. Keep in mind that's show conditions.
Sep 30, 2024 · I'm close to pulling the trigger on these as my endgame with the D90 Topping stack. But I'm terribly treble-sensitive. For reference the HD800S' coupled with a tube amp was still too bright for me. I've heard multiple reviewers mention that some soundtracks can produce sibilance on the Empyrean 2.
Nov 10, 2023 · The Empyrean II is a better headphone in every way. Much more controlled sound across the board that translates to a refined listening experience compared to the original. If the original Empyrean was considered a true-end-game sound back then, then the Empyrean is just [mind-explosion motion].

Jul 9, 2021 · The Utopia and Empyrean are much more efficient and can be powered by anything until you decide to get a higher end dac and amp. The Empyrean might be the best choice for you and you already own it. If you’re lacking the smoother highs and some detail get better cables for $500 and call it a day.
