Chess, for example, is a very old and popular strategy game where both players have complete information at all times. Adding to what others have said, Fog of War also allows the player to focus on their visible areas. Rather than be overwhelmed by an entire map, they can take it in a little bit at a time.

FOW was only there because the flash player was so small, it's not a mechanic and deca should've realized that while making unity. Fog of war needs to be gone. Fog of war only existed in the first place because it stopped lag in flash player. Theres alot less to load if you can only see 5 tiles in front of you.
