Stephen King, to me, is an author who isn't a great writer but is incredibly gifted at coming up with amazing concepts. I really liked The Stand for the concepts. But I also struggled with his incessant rambling exposition. That book really needed a good editor to shave all the unnecessary exposition down lol.

Some readers complain about how the pages last mentioning the dark man Randall Flagg is left but I liked it. It was original and unpredictable. I even like the last 100 pages which is almost another distinct book of it's own. The Stand is a novel which works best when characters are in motion.
