But it all goes back to the biblical pattern and here in Philippians chapter 2 we find the Apostle Paul offering himself, his beloved son Timothy, and his dear friend Epaphroditus as models of spiritual life, as models of spiritual service for us to follow.
Finally, Paul provides some specific detail concerning their transformation, “you turned to God” from idols “to serve” (δουλεύειν) the living and genuine God. His affirmation of their conscious service means that they now serve God by serving others.
