Firstly, yes there is a way to only show certain areas of fog of war. Turn on fog of war, create a shape and click on it. There should be a checkbox that says "reveal area to players" and that will work as a window for fog of war. Secondly, you'll need to share the battlemap with your son from the dashboard.
Dec 5, 2021 · Bring back the old render distance from 1.17 and take away the fog. Ever since 1.18 released I feel that the new way render distance renders hasn’t been great as well as this new fog. When I fly with an elytra it’s very hard to avoid not hitting terrain because of the fog and new render distance.
