Victoria itself is a tourist and a tech city, so make of that what you will. Lots of organic food, cheap food, and varieties of food, especially in Saanich (where UVic is mainly located).

I recently graduated from UVic--with zero student debt! And it was all thanks to the co-op program. UVic has a really, really great co-op program. I had four AWESOME jobs, which paid decently and look awesome on a resume. I was a humanities student, so having work experience upon graduation was really important.
Depending on how many hours you need and how flexible you can be, I found working as a casual on campus is pretty good. The ones I’ve worked for have been the best when it comes to working around my class schedule. But the downside is the hours can be pretty variable so if you NEED a job to pay for essentials, might not be the best option.
