Jasper was now reunited with his nephew, Henry Tudor, whom he collected from the Devereux estates, and with the boy’s mother, his other sister-in-law, Lady Margaret Beaufort. Jasper was in the interesting position of being uncle both to the nearest Lancastrian heir, Edward Prince of Wales, and of the more distant Lancastrian, Henry Tudor.
Somerset had had an older brother, John, who had died in 1444 leaving a daughter, Margaret, now heiress to great estates. As another mark of favour, and an opportunity to increase the income of his half-brothers, without cost, Henry granted the wardship of Lady Margaret Beaufort to Edmund and Jasper, jointly, in March 1453.

Retirement. From around the end of 1480’s, Jasper seemed to spend less time at court but he was appointed as deputy to Henry’s new son, Arthur Prince of Wales, in 1491 and he and Arthur had a joint commission in 1493 to execute justice throughout Wales and the marches. In December 1495 Jasper made his will.
