The John Hart Dam & Powerhouse was completed in 1947 by the BC Power Commission, BC Hydro's predecessor. In 2019, we finished a major project to replace aging equipment and facilities at the John Hart Generating Station, which improved the station’s seismic safety, efficiency and reliability.
The John Hart Dam is one of three hydroelectric dams on the Campbell River, located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The dam is located at the outflow of John Hart Lake. The John Hart Generating Station is located nearby.

The scope of work involves upgrading earth stabilizing infrastructure to improve the seismic resiliency of the existing John Hart Dam. An Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase commenced in the fourth quarter of 2022 to collaboratively plan and prepare for construction.
