Fishing buddy that’s going with me for the first time has H-bird helix GPS (I have Lowrance) and he wants to get the Lake Winnipeg map from Hummingbird. Here’s my question: Is the Hummingbird “map” an actual SD or micro-SD ...

  3. Feb 8, 2019 · February 8, 2019 at 8:54 am #1833530. Right now, the only map chip for the south basin is the AEM chip, which is for lowrance units only. That chip includes the south basin, and the red river up to Lockport. For hummingbird, the river is mapped, but not the lake. Yes it’s worth it.

  4. Mar 23, 2010 · Our biggest fish was 29.5”x16.5”. We watched a younger guy catch a 30’x 18 and a 31’x 18.5 about 50 yards away from us. The potential for a trophy fish is increased while fishing Lake Winnipeg. The average size fish caught by our group was about 21-22” in length with a weight of about 4.5lbs. Small heads with huge bodies!!!

They have up to date information on the Lake, with separate pages for the east and west side. It sounds like Prudens would be fine for a sled and maybe alright for truck travel also.

  6. Mar 26, 2011 · I suggest hiring a guide to get you acclimated with this lake, therefore I highly recommend Lee Nolden whom is a local guide and ice fishes Lake Winnipeg almost every day of the season. He is on top of the bite and also is a great stick. Lee can be contacted at leenolden@gmail.com or 204-485-4691. So I owe Lee a big thanks for helping me ...

  7. Mar 10, 2018 · Most of the depths have been made up honestly. There is AEM maps, which is a local company that actually runs lakes and maps them in actual detail and depths. Most of their mapping is LOTW area. They are amazing. They have mapped a portion on the east side of lake winnipeg, but it’s only available as a bonus if you purchase the whole catalog.

  9. Feb 8, 2011 · Biggest fish were taken on BFT blade baits, and 1/4 ounce slender spoons. We had a few fish take dead minnows dead sticked on jig heads. Other baits that worked were, clacking raps, rattling rapalas, and live targets. My most vicious hits were on blades. Over all, we would have loved to have caught more fish. This was a nine day trip, with two ...

  10. Nov 27, 2010 · The Red produces large fish in Dec. Lake Winnipeg produces large Walleye from Dec. to mid-March. We don’t have much for laker fising close by. I would suggest NW Ontario for lakers. I would talk to Calvin Svihel from this site. If you search the ice fishing reports he did one on Lake Winnipeg last March.
