In 1962, Lionsgate Films was founded as Cinépix Film Properties Cinépix was renamed Lions Gate Films on January 13, 1998. In 2005, the film studio's name was shortened to Lionsgate, while the parent company remained Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation.
