The gorge is accessed via the Great Ocean Road, 3.5 kilometres (2 miles) northwest of The Twelve Apostles. Stairs allow visitors access to the beach and a pathway allows access to the eastern side of the gorge.

Loch Ard Gorge. The centerpiece of the Loch Ard Gorge precinct is Loch Ard Gorge. It is the site of a shipwreck of the clipper ship Loch Ard after which it is named. The clipper ran aground on 1 June 1878.
Head out on this 0.5-mile out-and-back trail near Port Campbell, Victoria. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 9 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
