On October 15, 2015, Marza Animation Planet announced that they "decided to make a full-length CG animation movie" of Resident Evil series, which was referred to as a "reboot" and was set to be released in 2017. [5] The title of the work-in-progress Resident Evil film was revealed as Resident Evil: Vendetta on March 25, 2016.

, known in Japan as BIOHAZARD VENDETTA (バイオハザード ヴェンデッタ?), is a 2017 feature-length CG film developed by a partnership between Capcom and Marza Animation Planet.
The film's style, a departure from the previous two films, was intended to welcome in more fans of anime such as PSYCHO-PASS and live-action horror films rather than cater entirely to established fans of the games. Vendetta was the first and only film in the CG franchise to receive a limited theatrical run in the United States and Canada, which was hosted through Fathom Events.
