McHale's Navy is a 1997 American military comedy film directed by Bryan Spicer, and starring Tom Arnold, David Alan Grier, Dean Stockwell, Debra Messing and Tim Curry. The screenplay by Peter Crabbe and Andy Rose is based on the 1962–1966 television series of the same title.
Retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale spends his days puttering around the Caribbean in the old PT-73 selling homebrew, ice cream, and swimsuit calendars.
Plot. Ron Foster as Lieutenant Durham and Ernest Borgnine as McHale from "Seven Against the Sea", 1962. During World War II, Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale (Borgnine) is the commanding officer of the U.S. Navy PT boat PT-73, stationed at the fictional Pacific island base of Taratupa.
