Henry William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne PC, PC (Ire), FRS (15 March 1779 – 24 November 1848) was a British Whig politician who served as the Home Secretary and twice as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Lord Melbourne was the British prime minister from July 16 to November 14, 1834, and from April 18, 1835, to August 30, 1841. He was Queen Victoria’s close friend and chief political adviser during the early years of her reign (from June 20, 1837).
