Jul 25, 2017 · Luchino Visconti’s 1943 film Ossessione may be one of the lasting classics of Italian neo-realist cinema, but judging by Ivo van Hove’s clumsy adaptation for the National Theatre, perhaps the screen is where it should stay.
The reason to see 'Obsession' is the cast, with everybody being uniformly outstanding. Jude Law especially is an absolute powerhouse, some of his best acting in quite some time and he is riveting in his chemistry with heartfelt Halina Reijn. The editing is indeed never too fancy and neither does it feel too restricted.
National Theatre Live: Obsession: Directed by Nick Wickham. With Jude Law, Chukwudi Iwuji, Halina Reijn, Aysha Kala. A drifter falls for a married woman at road side diner and the two plot to kill her husband.
