For many people, the aurora is a beautiful nighttime phenomenon that is worth traveling to arctic regions just to observe. It is the only way for most people to actually experience space weather. These links provide a discussion of the aurora phenomena and tips for the best opportunities to view aurora at various locations around the world.
This product is designed to be a one page, simple look at recently observed and a three day forecast of space weather conditions. A brief description of why conditions occurred or are forecast is also included for each category.
Similar to the bulletins put out by the NWS local forecast offices, SWPC provides Alerts, Watches and Warnings to the public at large about what to expect from Space Weather. These bulletins are levels of severity of the solar activity that can be expected to impact the Earth’s environment.

An updated version of the Solar Cycle prediction product is now available on NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Testbed. In both plots, the black line represents the monthly averaged data and the purple line represents a 13-month weighted, smoothed version of the monthly averaged data.

In October 2023 the updated prediction for Solar Cycle 25 was made available to the public as an experimental product on NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Testbed. After a period of feedback from SWPC customers and the general public, the updated prediction was made available on this web site in December 2024, replacing the 2019 Panel prediction.
SWPC provides numerous tools, graphics and datasets to help both the casual user and research scientists understand and make use of the vast array of space weather information. Forecasts of several types are available to give warning of upcoming space activity, and models provide longer term outlooks for future events.
