Depending on how you want to present your own data, a KML file displayed on top of OSM using OpenLayers might be a good idea; if you want to privately modify OSM data then you will have to set up your own rendering (plenty of answers to that on this site as well).
Personally, I do not apply any additional rules to mapping private versus public property. If I can see it and there's a feature, I will map it. If I could use a feature to describe my location, then I would also map it. This makes it something that anyone could verify if they wanted.

You can share a link to the map if you want, or embed it another webpage. By default, any maps created on uMap are public, but you can set them as private if you want. You can export all of the data to a GeoJSON file, so you could back up that.
