  2. Nov 18, 2017 · Illustrated by: Michael Martchenko. Another great book by Robert Munsch. This book relates what happened to Tyya, a little girl that goes shopping with her father and siblings. Despite all the funny twists, the story has a very endearing end. Students always giggle at the silliness of what happens.

Albeit predictable, young children would like;y benefit from hearing this book read aloud prior to, during, or even after a substitute takes over the classroom.

  5. Apr 9, 2018 · The main character is a sixth-grader. This one is a chapter book as well, so it wouldn’t be a read-aloud for one day. I could see this being a fun book for a substitute who visits the same class regularly to read with the class, though! It could also be a fun book for a long-term substitute teacher.
