Jan 4, 1991 · Richard W. Maibaum V. Richard W. Maibaum. Screenwriter. Born in New York City, he was best known for his adaptations of Ian Fleming's James Bond spy novels into films. He was a playwright on Broadway before he made his film debut as screenwriter with We Went to College (1936), followed by They Gave Him a Gun (1937).
Maibaum was a very skilled writer and is extremely important (and partly responsible) for the classic Bond style that the Connery-Moore films created. With that being said, it seems like Maibaum was a bit crazy as well. He had some really mad ideas and was very dismissive of others work.
