Thanks for all the input so far. The TV mount has 2 arms that attach the wall mount plate to the tv mount plate (they come together like a "V") but they cannot slide or adjust. Here is a link to the TV mount, product 12280 on monoprice. You can also some of it on the box in my pictures.

Aug 5, 2023 · This is not a good idea because if the holes for the arms on the mount are not even, the TV will not be straight. To avoid this problem, always use a level to make sure that both of the holes you're going to drill into the wall are at the same height. After using the level, make pencil marks over the studs at the spot you'll want to drill.
The first pic is as close as it gets. The mount is a full extension mount with a 24” wall bracket and a 40” two-piece arm. When I look for tips on this, everything I see tells me to mount think plywood to the wall (secured in studs with lags), then use lags to mount the TV bracket to that plywood. TV is a 60” that weighs about 55 lbs.

Feb 20, 2017 · Studs are placed every 16 inches on center, so you should be able to mount your TV on two studs if you're using a tilting mount, sometimes three studs if you have a larger television and mount. From there, place the TV mount where you want it (have a second person there to help) and mark with a pencil where you need to screw it into the wall, making sure that there are studs at these locations.
