Sep 18, 2020 · For the radial and 4.7 rigs, a 6:1 system is normally sufficient. However, for the standard rig, an 8:1 is essential as the sailcloth on the MKII standard rig is much stiffer, requiring a more powerful system.

Some folks that race in our fleet change the rig depending on conditions - ie standard for most conditions but maybe radial / 6 for high wind (eg 18-30kts) conditions.
