Dec 31, 2023 · Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) I would suggest the 2600+ for the following reasons: 1.) It's already got pretty high compatibility and will only get better. you can add most of the 7800 library which makes the playability of the 2600+ a bit better. 2.) It's a nice compact box that hits all the right notes.
Atari Flashback 8 Gold "Activision Edition" is the one I have and it is very good. If you want one that will look great next to your other mini consoles, get the Flashback X or the “50th Anniversary”. They look the most like an awesome mini sixer. They are also both HDMI and can be soft modded with some effort.
Nov 25, 2023 · The Atari 2600+ is an oddball. Inside is a small board, most of which is dedicated to connectivity. The main PCB is a tiny Pi-ish thing. Every time you plug in a cart, the console dumps the ROM and squirts it to an emulator. This takes five to ten seconds, in stark contrast to the immediacy of the original 1970s console.

So if you are willing to spend 150 to 200 dollars you can get an original atari and a decent starting library. 4.
