Why can’t I have a Google Wallet version of my PRESTO card and keep the physical card active? Can I convert back to a physical PRESTO card? What should I do if I lose or factory reset my phone?
The digital PRESTO card in Google Wallet can only be active on one device at a time – either an Android smartphone or Wear OS smartwatch. Customers wishing to change devices must transfer their digital card to the other device to pay their fare.
If you are a GO Transit or UP Express customer, make sure to convert your physical PRESTO card to PRESTO in Google Wallet before or after your trip, not during, to avoid any fare payment issues. For details, please visit the PRESTO card website.
Since November 14, 2023, Android users can convert their existing physical PRESTO card to PRESTO in Google Wallet™ or obtain a digital card from the PRESTO App or Google Wallet. To pay your fare, you can tap your Android smartphone or Wear OS smartwatch on a PRESTO device on GO and participating transit agencies.
Apple/google pay is the most convenient way to go. You can have multiple cards on your Presto account, if you prefer. You do this by "signing up for a new card" within Google Wallet without converting the physical one, and then associating the newly issued digital card to your Presto account.

Just updated the Presto app to convert my card into a virtual one...It gave me back my cash balance and TTC Post-Secondary Monthly Pass (for November) but didn't keep my PS1 fare type. Also it seems to have destroyed my transaction history...which will make it interesting when I try to get work reimbursements next month.
